I know you've got some experience with this sort of stuff, so I figured I'd throw this at you....

The logic board on my iPod died. And I'm not big on the options that Apple gave me. I'd like to try to replace it myself.

1. How difficult/expensive/plausible do you think this would be?
2. I'm assuming that my hard drive is still in tact, and if I do this correctly I won't lose all my stuff (don't think for a second I was smart enough to back it up). Am I wrong?
3. If I'm not wrong, and theoretically everything is still there on the hard drive, is there a way to get those files off it and onto an external drive or something, in the event that I do end up getting a new or refurbished iPod?

I can't even find the System32 folder on this. Can someone help?
