A couple things, fordirelifesake is from Detroit and they are awesome, been around for a while. Released a CD on Ferret too.

Zombie Apocolypse is made up of former members of Shai Hulud. Matt Fox is the guitarist and I think they have the old bassist from SH too. I think they are pretty cool, very different.

I personally LOVE Bear Vs. Shark. It is always funny when people see them for the first time because they are so different and because of what you said about the singer. They are just one of those bands where you either love them or hate them, and their CD is personally one of my favorites. Plus, it has one of the longest titles in the history of music: "Right Now You're In The Best Of Hands, and If Something Isn't Quite Right, Your Doctor Will Know In A Hurry" Here are a couple songs:
