the powers that be are dead set against metal.
the closest they get is Scott Lee and metalcore.
Scott Lee has been nothing but a dick. He promised us a date at the Palladium, but never followed through with it. OH WELL. That just keeps the fire going though. Every show gets better and better for us. We'll hopefully get more people to watch us, someday, hah. Thanks to THE REV and everyone else for giving us props!
HE'S BEEN OK WITH US BUT WE GOT IN THROUGH THE BACK DOOR WE WERE RECOMENDED BY SOMEONE THAT WORKS THERE
(SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT THE NEW SYSTEM THAT WE DO DATA ENTERY WITH ONLY USES CAPS AND I'M TIRED OF HAVING TO CHANGE IT ALL THE TIME SO JUST DEAL WITH IT** NOT YOU T JUST ANYONE THAT FEELS LIKE COMPLAINING ABOUT IT**)

Everyone should call Scott Lee every day and tell him to have us open for Dimmu/CoB. When he picks up just shout "Ascendancy should open for Dimmu in December" then hang up. If he gets a few thousand of these a day he might start to remember who the hell we are.
I think each day, I'm going to try to start with an appreciation thread for a different local band that I believe has never gotten the credit that they should.
I will pick them at random based apon who comes to my mind on the morning of that day.
Yeah but you guys get stuff like Overkill and the Metal Gods showcase (had it not be cancelled of course). I'll admit there's a little professional jealousy there, but I'd still rather see you guys get those spots than some other bands. We're being patient with everything, it's just really frustrating. Especially when we get dicked around for way too long just to be turned away. Such is the life of a metal band.

OVERKILL OUR SET TIME WAS BUMPED UP A HALF AN HOUR EARLY AND IT GOT CUT WE WERE TOLD WE WERE STARTING AT 8PM AND WHEN WE GOT THERE IT WAS HURRY UP AND START PLAYING YOUR ON( THAATS HAPPEND 3 TIMES THERE) + WE GOT 0 STAGE SPACE OR SOUND CHECK I'M NOT COMPLAINING BUT IT'S USUALLY LIKE THAT AT THE PALLADIUM
I DO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING BUT WHO'S OPENING THE BLOODLETTING NE SHOW AGAIN I USED TO HIT UP EVERY SHOW ATT HE PALLADIUM (BEFORE MY VIDEO CAM WAS BANNED) AND GIVE OUT TAPES OF B.O.E THEY SEE THAT STUFF AND IT HELPS GET YOU IN THE DOOR
YOU ALSO GOT TO PLAY FAT CATS HE WON'T EVEN BOOK US THERE
We played Fat Cat's with four metalcore/Shallow Falls-rip bands. And we opened. And I think we came the furthest distance too. Not complaining, just stating the facts of the night. I still had fun, but the worthwhileness of that show is debateable.
Bloodletting is our first show opening for a big tour, we're as psyched as possible for it. Terence helped Al (Goratory) set the show up so we put ourselves on it basically.
I'm sure we'll sound a lot less angry with life when we do get on a big show without having to be the promoters or anything.
it's bullshit like that that made me start this thread. Or like having a show, take the All that Remains show, where 10 people show up to a show where a TON should.. and they the people responsible looses mad $$$. It just sucks!

Hey new, I remember that show. Left a bad taste in a few mouths. This is life.

There is a pretty good scene now I'd say. Much better than it was a few years back. Hirudinea has opened some uh "big" shows, and I'm grateful for that, but some local shows can be just as good (ex. the last box of knives show). I'd like to see a real local metal fest happen someday. More unity would not hurt, or at least less bitching/shit talk. Some people are sketchy of Hirudinea because of jackasses running their mouths off, and thats really annoying...
December Wolves
Watchmaker
Adolf Satan
Kevorkians Angels
Noosebomb
You're Fired
TYAG
Ascendancy
Bane Of Existence
Full Blown AIDS
Id
Anoxia
Conifer
Raising Kubrick

Anal Cunt
UCW
Warhorse
Basiliskk
Cythraul
Phatom Limb

Cryptic Warning
STE
Dysentary
PSHR
Microphallus
Martyrvore
CNV
Leukorreah
Goratory
The Accursed
Gorehammer
I'm probably forgetting some
She's not local. Or good. Or anything worth mentioning.
I'd be trying to set up some local shows with a ton of these bands but I don't have the resources right now and school this semester is driving me nuts.
The only way we got onto the Bloodletting date was cause we helped book it. Im not complaining or anything that we dont get shows. We have plenty of shows. My whole point was that Scott promised us a date at the Palladium. He outright said, "I will give you a date at the Palladium". and he never followed through with it. Fuck that. If thats what it has come to I'm opening my own fucking promtional company and book tour dates myself.

yeah, I must say that people keep telling me that Hirudinea always shows up late to gigs and shit.
Personally I must say that is a bunch of bullshit.
I have booked hirudinea 3 times and not once were they late.
So anyone who talks shit about them should keep their mouths shut.
NO ACTUALLY WE HAVE THIS GAY NEW SYSTEM WE USE HERE AND IT ONLY TAKES CAPS AND I'M TOO LAZY TO SHUT OFF THE CAPS LOCK

WITH SCOTT YOU HAVE TO STAY ON HIM WITH OUT ANNOYING HIM IT'S A FINE LINE I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS HE'S HELPED US A LOT

How about this, we (Life In Vain) were told my Scott Lee's 'people' to send him a CD in hopes of getting a palladium date. The CD obviously had all my contacts in it, phone number etc... So about a week later someone calls me and says they bought the CD at Scott Lee's Red Rocket Records. So he got our demo, sold it at his store and never even contacted me. Its almost too funny to get mad at. The only thing that pissed me off was that I paid money for shipping and he sold it, haha.

Thanks Joe. We were late to one show. I wish we didn't even go.
Those people are all talk, so I won't let it bother me. They can cry themselves to sleep/hate life, and come up with REALLY WITTY names like LATEUDINEA all they want. heh heh heh

I know man, Im almost glad it happened just because it's such a good story. Luckily the kid who bought the CD called to tell me that he really liked it... Oh well, I'll be sending him our next CD hoping to get on a show. I don't know him personally, so Im not trying to slander the guy....... But what the fuck, haha.
you know its funny everyone is giving scott lee crap on here... when he doesnt book the majority of the shows at the palladium..... you do realize that for like over the past year he has only done the really huge shows downstairs.... right?
i think its funny how everyone is quick to run their mouth but it seems the majority of you dont even seem to know whats going on.
as for local bands my favorite by far is and will always be Blistered Earth

the point is Scott Lee is never upfront with anyone and always dicks around bands
scott is a good guy maybe a little hard to deal with sometimes but you have to understand he gets hundreds of cd's and tapes every week he's helped b.o.e and we and i thank him and mass concerts for that.
i do understand what these people are saying cause we were looking to play ME R.I. and N.H. this year i contacted a coupla clubs sent out promo shit sent a follow up e mail's and never heard back from them ever my suggestions to al the bands is keep trying be persistent but not to the point of annoyance (a squeeky wheel gets the oil a flat gets replaced)

Well, back to the original topic, we appreciate the appreciation, hopefully we'll get onto some bigger shows this upcoming year in 2004. We've been talking about recording a new cd with our new bass player Josh, so we're really looking forward to what comes our way.
I sort of started with you guys, not having a clear goal in mind of what to do.

ok ok ok...
so here it goes.
I'd been hearing for a while about everyone's "boys". They sent me their demo for my radio show and was amazing at how good it was (though the quality was so-so) the music behind it was awesome. Finally I got to see them
I finally got to see them in early 2003. http://www.returntothepit.com/view.php?formid=785#4310 << my review.
Little did I know what I would be into for the future.
but first the past: so they started back in 2001-ish and basically what came out of that was Seth (drummer) and Terence (singer/guitar). They came out of another band called Vengence in Blood (which I believe also had members of the yet-to-be-formed in dire need). Jamming with just a kick ass drummer
and a killer guitar player/singer
wasn't enough for the choas so they some how got a young guitar player named mike to jump in.
and then a few months later, they added a female bass player.
a bass player being the finally key to a bitchin' band. With that they were ready for air play. july 22 2003, they made their radio dabut on a certain "return to the pit" radio show with an awesome live perforance.
This line up lasted for 7 months or so, and then attrition. Cherlene left the band and is currently mia. they searched for about a month or two and happened on a very excited metal head, Josh. I've known and seen this kid at shows for years. I believe even back when he was a janitor. now, he's graduated to Spookey world (how metal) and ascendancy (how very metal), but always up front at the met cafe/lupos or the palladium rocking out. So great for him (being an awesome bassplayer) to find a band like this.
a prefect fit.
since then they have just gotten better and better. terence and mike actually use their wireless kits to the fullest and travel all about the shows they are at.
what will the future hold?
releases? shows? kids?
I believe they a looking for a label, but will probably just record something with their own $$.
and shows, they will be will to play anywhere. I suggest some people in pennsylvania book them.
Thank you so much Aaron! and Joe, you better believe I got a little slice of Heaven in me! My parents created me and Jonny Depp, what more could you ask for?
its impossible to think that brads band sucks, cus they kick ass.
