let me let the secret out...
hirudinea
Annelida \An*nel"i*da\, n. pl. [NL. See Annelid.] (Zo["o]l.) A division of the Articulata, having the body formed of numerous rings or annular segments, and without jointed legs. The principal subdivisions are the Ch[ae]topoda, including the Oligoch[ae]ta or earthworms and Polych[ae]ta or marine worms; and the Hirudinea or leeches. See Ch[ae]topoda. they are an old school black metal-ish band with leanings towards a noise (probably influenced by the noise upserge in Providence-noise acts).
they started with a line-up (that I don't know) back in 1999, but put it on ice and reformed with the current line-up in 2002.
I didn't hear about them until Oct 2002.
where they played at Jarrod's Place on the infamous "anal blast" show. It was a very sloppy/drunk set.
since then, they have gotten tighter
smashed more pieces of equipment
created some wildly hectic sounds
and even have a release (a split with watchmaker) coming out soon.
this will hopefully give them the chance to have something that puts down a good quality of what they can do.

Rev, we are definately inspired by noise/power electronics, and harsh doom, but nothing from RI.
Hirudinea is basically what our old band Cursed For Eternity (black metal 94-99) morphed into when our guitarist Pat moved to VT, and he later formed the death metal band Gorehammer (RIP) with an ex CFE bassist Josh. The old Hirudinea lineup was...
me (Mike)-guitar/vocals
Jay-bass/vocals/keys/effects
Jeff-drums
Andy-noise/samples/effects
The music was based much more around electronics. We were really drugged out at that point, so we never did much. We played one show, and it was a disaster. Never recorded. We kicked Andy out and then we didn't do anything for awhile.
We started it up again in 2002, and the goal was to be more raw, stripped down, and aggressive as possible in different atmospheres. We combine everything we like ranging from black, death, thrash, grind, doom, hc, crossover, power electronics, and noise. We are not a pure black metal band. Our roots lie within all the styles mentioned. Me, Jeff, and Jay are all brothers. The new lineup is
The recording has started for the split cd with Watchmaker that will be out on Bestial Onslaught productions late this year, or early next. http://www.bestialonslaught.com
The absolute best NE band since Kevorkians Angels rode off into the sunset. They make every other band look like soft posers.

Gotta agree with Rich, fucking love these guys. First time we played with them we had found our allies in the fight against all the hippster douchbag metal that was around at the time. Long live Hirudinea!

Haha, I can't believe how long we've been around now. Now if only we can record our full length....
Thanks guys, you made me smile in a totally non-gay way.
Hirudinea is the band around here that is the closest to what Rampant Decay does, and there will never be a localband thread for Rampant Decay, so my hand was forced.

Mike, remember: "I told him not to back down the driveway, I told him not to do it" Hirudinea owns all!

that band only really did anything for me once the addition of Baron Hamm Von Meat Pecks on bass came to fruition. I mean, he wrote all the songs right?
