I don't think they're going to hang it up any time soon. Tony has a lot of determination. He has definitely earned my respect. The guy has been dealing with shady promoters since I was in elementary school, and he has some amazing tour stories. He probably just wants to keep playing death metal until he is too old and decrepit to do it anymore. Ha ha! You can't shit on anyone for that. I hope I'm still living the dream 20 years from now.

I very briefly worked for a pizza place called Kingston Pizza. The owner pulled this on me. He came in and was putting away stuff and pulled out an ugly as sin shirt that he was selling. He asked if I was an XL and I said yea (thinking that we were now going to be required to wear the shirts). He tossed me a shirt and as he was leaving the store he said "I'll just take it out of your next check".

This thread rules. I've told this story before, but its worth repeating. Back in 2006 I was looking to get a good draw band for a show I was booking and I noticed that Vital would be in town. I sent an e-mail to the band and they sent me the contact info for their agent. I called the agent and asked him how much they would need for a local gig. He said $1700 and I laughed and hung up the phone. Two months later I see VR headlining a show a week after mine with the door price set at $17. |
