i like what i've heard from green evening requiem. reminds me a bit of agalloch. wish i was at the stone and steel fest last weekend to check out their live show.
i didn't hear any hardcore in the stuff i listened to, but they definitely had heavier, black metallish parts that agalloch doesn't really have. i read good reviews of their set from the fest last weekend.
I'd say they are a cross between Novembre, Agalloch and Woods of Ypres. I'm sure they don't want to be labelled like most bands want to known as unique. I personally think they are amazing. Playing live they didn't have any clean vocals but I was told that they are pursuing regaining a clean vocalist in addition their bm style vokills. If you like their song on the free vol 2 comp cd of mine - you should get thier $5 off my online store/their site or at a show I'm at. They have more samples on www.greenevening.com. My store link is above. Rev, Agalloch used to be even more raw on their demos. I know I don't hear any HC influences but sometimes people hear different things in the songs. Someone once told me that they heard MC/HC influences in the new COB and I was mortified. then I actually heard some MC riffage on the new cd. I just think its the other way around.. these riffs were metal first then metalcore bands brought them out more in their dillution of the metal scene - oops!
