this is something that I've been ponderin for a while... do I remove this link? same with the odless risin link. coule others too....something that directly impacts the underround of the underggground. what do people think? thus far, I ave refrained from commenting in these threads solely for the fact that a higher percentage of metal scene (as opposed to normal music fans) here will go out and buy the CD if they like it even after downloading it. is my silence complicity and acceptance? what do people think?

Yea, I know alot of people say if they like the album they'll go buy it, but sexcrement has 3 free tracks on their myspace.

if people get those three songs, that's enough to decide weather they like the album and if they will buy it or not.


Then again, I don't speak on behalf of the band, maybe they don't even care for all I know, but I'm sure Josh will chime in and give his input.

True. Both sides have an argument, but I don't know if the link should be deleted or not, I think the band should have final say.

Downloaded it, I'll be buying this once i get to see them at a show. i tried contacting josh but he never got back to me.

If i put lots of hard work into an album, and I had it released on some type of label. And had people downloading it instead of buying it. I am not sure how much I would give a shit about album sales. Most contracts give very little back to the band. Unless of course you buy a copy from the band themselves.

If you are concerned about supporting the band, then buy a shirt and go to the show. The small percentage they get from the cd sale is insignificant.

just think of it this way, it cost around 1200 bucks to get the cd printed alone, plus what ever they paid for recording the cd. Thats a lot of fuckin money, and how are they gonna keep playing shows and record another cd if they cant even make that money back cause people are all gettin they're stuff for free.

i see no problem with downloading. if you download it and dont like it... you dont buy it and there is no harm. if you download it and like it, buy it. thats what i do when i have money to blow on albums.

I couldn't give a shit less if noone agrees with me. That's why I said the band can decide for themselves weather or not they want the album available for download.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. Whether right or wrong, it's out there. And it will continue to be there, and over time more and more stuff will be more and more easily available. The whole "industry" is due for a massive shift.

People can download and share albums easily nowadays. The smart bands will find ways to take advantage of this. The not so smart ones (or the stuck-in-tradition ones) will gripe and groan and miss the bandwagon entirely.

Personally, if I saw a bunch of people downloading the Pillory album (when I was still in the band) I would have been pretty happy, and even encouraged it. Sure, selling 10 CD's at $10 a pop during a show is great, and put money in our pocket. But I would much rather play a show in a city where I knew that hundreds and hundreds of kids already had it, and that the club would be PACKED when we played.

I really have no interest in selling CD's for profit (or to recoup expenses) in the future. I am more interested in exposure, and distribution. There has always been far more money to be made with show attendance and merch sales.

That said, this is one album I won't download. Despite my own beliefs, I don't feel like getting punched in the face by Josh Staples.

I feel like taking Josh Staples out on the town for a nice expensive dinner (Maybe frozen lobster, but not live lobster) and getting him into a dry martini.

I just hope you fuckers will come out to a fucking show and buy the album!
