Is there a place to contact you, or should we just walk around outside yelling that we want to buy a guitar amp, and hope you happen to be in the neighborhood?

toggletoggle post by death metal at Aug 26,2007 4:36pm
just post your email address and i will contact you with the details.

regardless of if you like this head or not, that is a great price. and this head is actually awesome if you know how to use it. tons of people use these and love them. the only reason i am selling it is because i just got the new marshall jvm amp.

Actually, as said, it's a piece of crap. Not only that, but for the poor fools like yourself that actually LIKE anything marshall has made in the last 15 years you can find more than half a dozen of these things cheaper on the very first page of a "jcm 2000" search on ebay. That's buy it now price, not current bid.

Great price? no.

toggletoggle post by death metal at Aug 26,2007 10:38pm
i checked ebay and the only jcm 2000 that is cheaper than this is one in an auction with a reserve and starting at 700. also, i am seeing the 50watt version at a buy it now price of 890 -- mine has twice the wattage for 40 bucks less.
if you want to buy one of the jcm combos, you can pay a price like what arrowhead is talking about, but this is the amp only.. not a combo!

850 OR BEST OFFER!!! THIS GUY HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT!!

im not guitar player, but i know arrowhead knows what hes talkin about, id advertise somewhere else rather than getting into a tiff over it.

just my 2 cents

Unfortunately, anyone can confirm it themselves. Right now on ebay theres one for $825, and one for $795 with mods. Two others are already gone, and likely many more will pop up over the next few days. I've seen these trading hands for anywhere from $600-$1000. Your price may be fair, but is by no means great, a steal, or a bargain.

i decided not to bomb this thread and be the asshole, but im kinda glad someone else did.

anything a JCM 2000 can do every Splawn ever made can do as well if not better.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Aug 27,2007 1:32pm
the splawn voicing is of a better generation of marshall, so it wins right out of box with all settings at 0. the modern marshall voicing is boxy, fizzy and 2 dimensional. blah.

it all depends on the style of music you play.

I was able to make my DSL100 sound decent with EQ-ing. When I sold to a friend it sounded amazing with the rock stuff he was playing.

A couple of years ago I played a modded 800 that sounded ridiculously heavy.

Trey from Morbid Angel still uses two 900's.
Erik Rutan use to the 2000's until he discovered ENGL like me ;)

I thought prices on the DSL's went up drastically last year? I got $1100 for mine with head case.

My opinion only-not saying it's a fact: The JCM900 is my favorite amp from Marshall. The guitarist I used to jam with played two of them and also a 1070 (I think) JMP, and they all sounded amazing. And he had both the 50 watt single channel and the 100 watt dual channel, and we were playing very progressive stuff, almost like Tool and Dream Theater style. All of them sounded awesome, but then he started working at Daddy's getting barely any money and had to sell one of them for some money.

the transformer on your DSL made it sound a lot clearer than normal (along with the EQ).

marshall prices have jumped in the past 4 years, and most of their lineup is going to jump up to 10% higher prices by the end of the year too.

I got one a while back and it is my favorite thing EVER. The onboard distortion is nasty.

never had the opportunity to play through an 800, but I bet those are nasty too.

The JCM800 is exactly what it's made out to be. All I'd really ask for is a little more gain, but that could be done easily. Other than that, it's amazing. But I definitely would choose the JCM900 over anything.
