New site? Maybe some day.

So I'm on my work computer (running XP Professional), and I've been having issues the last few weeks with spyware, and viruses.
I should note first of all that this computer was a mess before I ever inherited it. One of the techs who was here when I first started used to use it to look at bondage porn (in the office, while people were there).
I constantly get alerts from Virus Scan about these 2 downloader trojans it keeps finding in my system. It always fails in it's attempt to quarrantine or delete them, and when I manually delete them they come back. Sometimes Virus Scan will find them in different directories than they were previously in (but always in sub-directories of the temporary internet files).
On top of that, a few weeks ago I started having problems with popups. I gave up on IE and switched over to Firefox hoping it would help. But now I get sporadic popups whenever I use Firefox, the only twist is that the popups come as IE windows.
I installed Spyware Blaster, and Spybot Search & Destroy (in addition to Ad-Aware which I already had on here). Spyware Blaster is running with zero items unprotected. None of these 3 are picking up on either of the two trojans that keep coming up, and when I do a Virus Scan manually it doesn't find them either.
All I want is for these goddamn popups to stop. |

maybe you should try getting into bondage porn. that way, you won't mind the popups so much. |
|
bondage porn is the shit. these are popups for "Buzznet" and "My Fat Assassin" (not as cool as it sounds) and Celebrity gossip sites and dumb shit like that. |

Google how to turn off microsoft messenger in XP. After that, if you still have the issues, go to the hijackthis forum and post a log. |
|
You have contracted the deadly SYSTEM32 virus. Delete your system32 folder at the earliest opportunity, or it will eat all your (pre-1995) Olsen Twins porn. |
|
start - all programs - admin tools - services - scroll down to messenger, then right click and select properties.
Then click the stop button and on the drop down menu select 'disable'.
This will stop alot of those messages, but won't get rid of what's already on your computer. for that, I would strongly suggest following the instructions here:

if you haveto log in or register to download something, you can just use my login info.

holy shit. I think they actually did it. No more popups. No more virus alerts.
So far. |

try running everything in safemode. all you spyware and antivirus software. If a virus is running in memory it's next to impossible to remove. In safemode it won't be running and your AV software should be able to remove it.
Also if you know the name of the virus or spyware you can look up what common filenames it uses and you can scan through your registry and remove any reference to the infected files. |
