i feel like a good amount is just shitty gay fallout from metalcore... all sorts of slightly-cheesy and really cheesy bands do it. converge, darkest hour, pig destroyer, basically ANY new-school mosh death metal band, basically every single Black Dahlia Murder-style god-awful knock-off band.

just take two bars of any standard Slayer fast-thrash beat - that's 8 kicks and 8 snares at say, i dunno 240 bpm.....

these newer sucky vocalists seem to always fashion their patterns like this:

well, i quite like pig destroyer but the saturation of stuff that has come after them has tainted my perception of them. actually, mainly just the vocals... the screaming, abandonment style.... aggh.

he's right. when i write i try to change things up, actually i take a lot of influence from Warrel Dane, even though our vocal styles are completely different. he writes the best patterns.
