Anyone heard anything about this game? Just read a review on IGN and it looks pretty sick. I'm in the market for nice new FPS, since Bad Company was kind of "meh".

After reading the review, I've gotta say there's nothing like starting forest fires and pulling shrapnel out of your own leg with pliers...

if it's any bit as good as the first one, i don't see why i won't install it on my computer after my roommate downloads it. after upgrading my computer, i've started playing through half-life 2 again (the episodes too), on full settings with the motion blur and everything they added in, it's like a new game and still remains my favorite FPS of all time.

Apparently it's a little different, and they're not really sure why the called it "Far Cry" other than the brand recognition.

So in short, it's not much like the first one at all.

I just don't like the company who makes Farcry in general. They always say "we have the best AI ever" when really its more like bullshit AI who never miss a shot while you are in a jungle. Not to mention the whole of Crysis other than the graphics was a terrible game.

Just like darkwor, I'll stick to Valve games for the PC.

im considering getting this, but only if i trade in games for it... im not sure if its worth doing that.

toggletoggle post by timma at Oct 24,2008 4:15pm
Yeah, I'm a little of the fence about it. Hopefully I can trade it Bad Company for some dollars off because I'm pretty sure I'll never play it again. It was fun at first, but faded reaaaaal quick.

I'm playing it now.

Its a good game with a good story. The missions are cool and there are alot of them.

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Jul 6,2009 8:57am
It was aight. The getting around part would get old fast because some parts would take SO FUCKING LONG and you just gett attacked non stop.
Go buy Red Faction: Guerrilla. Awesoime game so far.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 6,2009 12:29pm
I did one mission and then fell asleep. it was getting late anyhow. the game seems pretty good thus far.

toggletoggle post by oscarct  at Jul 6,2009 2:42pm
dug the game. should have used the feral sences from the 1st. did not like walking/driving to missions and having to kill everyone while getting there.

toggletoggle post by darkwornli at Jul 6,2009 2:56pm
i actually played through all of this, which is rare for me, took me around 25-30 hours. i played it on PC, and i thought it was awesome, the graphics were sick. getting from mission to mission was a chore sometimes. but that was part of the game, and the realistic landscapes mixed with the good AI (played it on hardcore difficulty) and physics made for some intense interesting battles. armies of multicolored africans were out to get you but you had the firepower to take care of it. guns and gameplay were well done.

also, not sure why they called it Far Cry, it has nothing to do with any of the other games. no bullshit modern shooter.

PRO TIP: the mortar is devastating once you learn how to use it. always carry around the machine gun.

also, the Red Faction demo was amazing, i'll be buying that when the price drops.

Ubisoft Montreal is really good at creating open worlds, they just completely fucking blow at making the inhabitants and missions you encounter in those worlds interesting. Three games of theirs (Assassin's Creed, Shaun White Snowboarding and this) have expansive sandbox worlds and if you added up the actual gameplay and storylines of those three games you'd maybe have enough decent material to make one great game. Fuck Ubisoft Montreal, I wanted to love this game and they cocked it up with a broken storyline and endless walking across the map under constant threat of ambush.

Plus, you'd figure with the different factions of the game and if you're doing missions for them, why the fuck would you make it so they attack you?! In fact, why would they make it so everyone attacks you at all times for no reason?! If they made the way the story and the relationship of your character with the factions/overall conflict more complex, you'd have had a great game where you could play guys against each other and whatnot.

Assassin's Creed
Beautiful game and the first few levels were wicked fun, but then it was like 100000 levels of all the same bs.

And it's not like that's hard to implement at all, fucking GTA 2 had a respect meter a decade ago.

I got so fucking sick of that "and remember our guys don't know you're working for us, so get ready to be shot at all the fucking time" bullshit that I stopped playing the game a few missions into the second territory. It's not like I missed much, the storyline was horseshit. Weapons degradation was a cool idea implemented horribly. You'd think a mercenary experienced enough to take down entire fuel and ammo depots would be able to maintain his rifle for more than two or three days.

I see all the things that you guys are talking about. it's so long to drive from one location to another and EVERYONE tries to kill me when I'm doing it. I have to come up to all the police stations with an assault truck and blow them away. I have done 4-5 different missions and none of them are moving the act along. 8%.

black people fucking hate me. and I "abandoned" a latina friend. sucks.
