The Webster Theater has horrible sound, but it was still a decent show. They played 2 sets. Crack The Skye in its entirety, then a 2nd set with older songs. They had a big video screen behind them

Did you fall asleep during Baroness? Or feel a strange sense of deja vu during older Mastodon songs?

Pete from Baroness is a friend of mine, great guy. Check out his other band, Valkyrie, they'll be doing some shows up in the Northeast this summer. Total Iron Maiden/Thin Lizzy/Wishbone Ash worship with a touch of doom and stoner. He plays guitar and sings, along with his brother, who also plays guitar and sings. The chemistry between those two is obviously amazing, I like them a lot better than Baroness.

I got to see Mastodon for frees when they played House of Blues. The venue sucked balls and hassled me like you wouldn't believe, but it was a cool show, I liked the Crack The Skye stuff infinltely better live, and the old material came off well. Cool stage show with the screen and shit.

Never knew about their other band. Frankly if I didn't know their names I'd have no idea they were the same Baroness guys... sounds totally different. Not really digging it though =/

I'll support Baroness solely for their impeccable taste in amplifiers.
