New site? Maybe some day.
|
I ordered my own and a camera. I'm going to play with motion cameras. Wished I did this with my cat still here so I could see where she pissed every day. |
|
I made a retropie for myself and one for my brothers for Christmas. Thing is super rad. I forgot how tedious Mega Man X can get. Didn't bother trying to get my PS3 controller working wirelessly since it took me around 6 hours to get the controls mapped properly.
What I'd like to do is figure out a way to mount one in an enclosure and make a random MIDI generator to trigger a synth with. People have apparently made full-on MIDI interfaces with these before so should be doable, just haven't done the deep dive yet. |
|
yeah, that would be cool and surprisingly easy. The wireless PS3 things was easy following the video. Now all PS3 controller just work if I use them via USB and then unplug them and hit the PS3 button.
So far, I have bought
2 x pi 3b
1 x pi zero
2 x pi 3 case
2 x power adapter
1 x NoIR camera (8MP)
1 x 32GB
1 x 16GB
1 x pi zero to NoIR camera cable
6 x OTG
5 x USB wifi dongle
I think I have a problem now.. getting addicted. I'm definitely getting more pi zeros once I get those working.
Can you do me a favor and try punch out? I'm not sure if it's just me or not, but I'm having issues with Punch out on the NES and timing the dodging. I want to see if it's me, the PS3 controller or what. |
|
ok, it has to be me. I let someone borrow the pi and they didn't have issues dodging. |
|
I haven't had any issues with Punch Out or any of the console games, and Punch Out actually seemed way easier than I remember it. Sonic 2 responded vaguely weird here and there but no deal breakers. Mega Man 5 does a weird thing where if you hit square it'll fire a three round burst.
The only thing that seems completely fubar are the arcade games, the only ones that are even semi-playable are Mortal Kombat II and III. |
|
the co-worker that I let borrow the pi is now making his own after posting pictures of his kids playing. |
|
They're easy to use and hella cheap, I'm surprised more people haven't fucked around with these (at least that I've heard). My co-worker's got a 128GB install that's got something to the tune of 40,000 arcade games on it. I've got the 64GB image he made before he went over to the bigger card. There are lost Gameboy games from my childhood that I haven't thought about in 12-15 years at least. |

there are games on this that I haven't thought of in over 25 years. |
|
Also, I'm being rather conservative moving games to it. I find when you have too many options then you don't get down with any option. |
|
That's actually a great idea. Though I will agree that at this point you officially have a problem. I'm cool just trying to beat the NES Hunt For Red October for now (which, apparently, also has a SNES version that's almost identical but with different graphics including a correct looking Typhoon sub). |
|
I went down to microcenter and got another pi zero and a pi 3 b. I think I'm going to dual boot my retropie and put rasplex on it. I have a plex server that plays awesome on my browser/tablets, but terribly on my TV. I can't get the chromecast browser crap working. I think that playing plex via pi would work. I won't be using my retropie too often so I think the dual boot option would be cool.
I'm also thinking about running seti on my pi's when they are just idle. |
|
I've been to microcenter way too many times. Heading down there with a coworker at lunch. Getting another p zero. Also, got a 3D printout from my other coworker to hold a pi zero + camera. it rules! |
|
2 more cameras hidden places and such. redid my retropie with raspbian + retropie. Working on getting it to be a plex client. I want to be able to control plex playing on it. Then a pi alexa.. |
