New site? Maybe some day.

So, I'm sitting in Boch Toyota's Service waiting room trying not to off myself. There's a bunch of zombie-like tards watching Saved By the Bell, and some slophole screaming in Haitian on her cell phone.
My dad insisted that I bring his truck here to get the differential looked at, and they're charging me $100 just to LOOK at the fucking thing.
Thanks be to Jeebus for free wi-fi and Iron Maiden/Crotchduster. |

To paraphrase George Costanza, why don't you just throw your money out the window.
The reason dealerships get such a bad reputation for service is because it's entirely true. Here's a list of things that I've been charged for/given estimates for before I stopped listening to my parents and found a mechanic:
* $200+ to replace a battery
* $500+ to flush a radiator
* $600+ for a rebuilt alternator
* $600+ for new brake pads and rotors
* $80 for a diagnostic scan that turned out to be inconclusive when my car died and had to be towed there. I blew up when I found out they didn't actually fix anything, and they told me they'd credit me the $80 if (meaning "when") it happened again. No big surprise, the car died a month later with the exact same problem, and my $80 credit went out the window because they told me they did a different set of diagnostics.
* Almost $200 to keep my car for almost a week, somehow use up a full tank of gas that I had, and have the nerve to tell me they couldn't find anything wrong with my car.
Luckily I only actually paid for a few of those things. Most of those real expensive ones I had the sense to either go somewhere else with, do myself, or just ignore. |

The car dealer that my family has gotten our last 5 vehicles from told me straight up to never bother coming into the dealership for any work unless absolutely necessary, but also make sure I saved receipts of any maintenance done so I get the maximum trade-in value if/when I get rid of my car. |
|
my car is going into the dealership on the 24 for a $1500 cattu |
|
haha I work at a toyota dealership, and everything you say is true. Luckily I still have my dignity as being a salesman, although 99% of the car salesman, are in fact, dooshbags...thankfully i've only been doing it for 3 months and don't quite consider myself a doosh...Our service I think charges 120 an hour for labor |
|
yea, dealerships are the fucking worst |

So let's recap my day @ Boch Toyota today shall we?
-Called at 7am to see if I could get my check engine light and differential looked at on my 2008 Tacoma.
-Went to Toyota, dropped off said Tacoma, waited for 2 hours
-Find out that my truck failed a frame recall inspection (which I'd heard about but totally forgot) and is "not safe to drive"
-Clean everything out of my truck (including taking apart the ENTIRE dashboard to get my stereo out)
-Give my truck to Toyota so that it can be crushed.
-Leave with a 30 day paid rental. Of a Kia Sorento. With 25k miles on it. That squeaks. And has a huge fucking dent in the side.

wtf...so your truck is just done?
what about the money you've paid on it |
|
you should at least get a free Ernie and the Automatics cd out of that deal. |
|
eeeaaaghch...WTF is that from |
|
Done and done, my friend.
I get 150% of the Blue Book value paid back to me, but seeing as how its a 2000 and has 135k on it, that's not even enough to cover a down payment. |
|
better than nothin, i guess |
|
Truth...I'm just pissed off because I went to get my check engine light checked out, and I leave with a shitty rental and my truck getting crushed. |
