New site? Maybe some day.
this album is what defines 'beautiful' music for me.
i enjoy this CD very much. I'll be listening to this when i go to sleep tonight. |
I second/third this statement! |
Josh Staples exposed me to the wonderfulness that is Alcest. Appreciated. |
I must one day download this and decide if I love it or really love it.
By download, I mean buy. |
Such a grand listen. "Le Secret" is a bit harsher, but no less sublime. |
i prefer my alcest without the ghey, but that one is damn good as well. |
I still haven't assigned a Kinsey-esque rating to Amesoeurs. |
I've always liked Alcest. Le Secret is much better imo. check out the earlier stuff before Le Secret too. |
i finally took the time to listen to this band, i heard most of "Souvenirs..", what a fucking snoozefest. completely overrated. it had some cool melodies, and the guy definitely knows what he is doing, but the vocals were atrocious. He sounds like a bored Billy Corgan. How the fuck is this considered "black metal"? Is the newest album dramatically different or something? |

I'll be sure to wear my alcest shirt on Saturday. |
maybe the other stuff would appeal to me, but that was painful to sit through. i didn't find any of the "melancholy beauty and sadness" i had read about in reviews, i just found monumentally boring songs with Billy Corgan singing. |
alcest is awesome. so is slowdive. basically the only two bands i listen to from this genre of music. |
Le Secret is what got him the deal. Hear that first. Th new album is a mixture between both, but similar to the first. Alcest is a unique sound that definitely won't appeal to everyone. Les Discrets might be more down your alley; some songs have opeth influences.
And Billy Corgan? I hear Enya, My Bloody Valentine and Ride. |
listen to amesoeurs and lantlos too |
yea, those too.
I still think it's funny how alest exploded. when le secret came out it had rave reviews. I think it was initially released on 1000 copies I believe but that quickly changed. It's been rereleased and remastered now, right? |
I thought it was really cool how alcest bailed on the democracy center show like the day of the show.....
