I gotta be honest, not digging the rest of the lineup (Cripple Bastards is the only other band I'm interested in), but if Neurosis is playing, then I must at least make an attempt to see this
Is Lock Up going to have a fill-in drummer? I don't know if Nick Barker's allowed in the US...I could've sworn that was why he had to bow out of the Testament gig.
ive been trying to get PanzerBastard on MDF next year for so long...no response :(
Good luck. They asked Goratory like 2 years in row and they declined and I'm not even trying to get Sexcrement on it cus I know the chance is that low.
13 more bands have been confirmed for MDF 2011!
The last 2 headliners and a handful of other bands will be announced before the end of the month to finalize the billing.
CORROSION OF CONFORMITY (Animosity lineup), HAIL OF BULLETS (Netherlands), DEAD CONGREGATION (Greece), DROPDEAD, KYLESA, REGURGITATE (Sweden), NOCTURNAL (Germany), ACID WITCH, FUNEBRARUM, CITIZENS ARREST, BAD ACID TRIP, HATRED SURGE, MASAKARI
im one of the few that actually prefers later COC to the early stuff but they may as well be different bands.
same...or more middle period COC lol. not a huge fan of their last couple releases. Drowning in a Daydream is one of my all time favorite tunes.

love deliverance and americas volume dealer the mostest...i think AVD would be huge if it wasnt COC...people dont WANT to like it because of what the band was but its a fucking awesome album.
can't wait to see what the last two headliners are.
This probably won't happen but... wouldn't Morbid Angel be AWESOME!

If it's the Animosity lineup, I hope they play some shit from Eye for an Eye. I had heard a couple rumors that did not come true in this update but hoping they will later. Being the token grind guy on this board anyway, nobody gives a fuck haha.
3-Day passes are now on sale and will cover May 27th - May 29th. Click here for more information.
Due to our desire to include more bands than usual on the Thursday show, we've decided to expand the festival to 4 days instead of having a "pre-fest" on Thursday. Only the main room stage of Sonar will be in use for the Thursday portion of the festival.
You will be able to purchase a separate ticket for Thursday, May 26th once the billing is finalized. Individual day tickets for each day of the festival will go on sale once a list of bands is posted for each day.
We're in the middle of wrapping up some details with a few headliners and a handful of other awesome bands, so stay tuned for the next update.
The first 4 bands confirmed for Thursday, May 26th are as follows:
We're extremely pleased to announce that the legendary CORONER will be making an exclusive US appearance to headline one of the nights of Maryland Deathfest 2011!
We've also confirmed the following bands:
NUCLEAR ASSAULT
DEATH BREATH (Sweden)
DOOM (UK)
OAK
VISCERAL DISGORGE
If all goes as planned, the last headliner and a few other bands to appear between Friday-Sunday will be announced before Halloween.
We'll also be announcing more bands for the Thursday portion of the festival, including a headliner for that day as well, although bookings for Thursday could trickle into November.
yeah I'm really hoping we get some residual east coast touring up here ... someone book Hooded Menace into O'Brien's ... or they could play my front yard in JP

This pleases me!

The following bands have been confirmed for MDF IX:
CATHEDRAL (UK) - Exclusive US Show
BUZZOV*EN
DESTROYER 666 (Australia)
LACK OF INTEREST
EXTORTION (Australia)
WITCHAVEN
All of the above bands except for Destroyer 666 will be playing on Thursday, May 26th.
We're still sorting out details with a few more bands for the Thursday portion of the festival. Aside from those few bands, we won't be announcing anyone else.
A list of bands for each of the 4 days of the festival can now be found here.
Single day tickets for Friday-Sunday are now available to purchase here. An option to purchase a 4-day pass and Thursday only ticket will be available as soon as the bill for Thursday is complete, which could be in as little as just a few days from now.

EXTORTION!!!!!
I might actually go for only the 1st 2 days if I go at all. The only bands I have any interest in seeing on either Saturday or Sunday are Cripple Bastards, Doom, Dropdead, and Mammoth Grinder
The bands I care most about are spread pretty evenly throughout the days. I 100% HAVE to go Sunday unless Coroner ends up doing a full blown tour (Not bloody likely), but every day looks like it would be quite enjoyable.
I was really hoping I'd only want to go to 1 or 2 days this year so I can avoid having to take a full week off of work, but of course that's not the case. If only Coroner, Wormed, Defeated Sanity and Exhorder were put on the first two days.
Almost all of the bands I want to see are playing in Boston. Soooo that, combined with the oppressive heat, crust scum, and crazy homeless blacks has made me skip. ALSOOOOOO saving for Headbangers open air and hells Pleasure. NOT IGNORANT.

not feeling the Sunday lineup at all. tempted to check out cathedral on thursday.
who's going?
I really have no choice in the matter, I have to go all four days since my girlfriend works for BUZZOV*EN, C.O.C., Kylesa and Orange Goblin.. here's to hoping I don't have to pay for my ticket this year
I wish I could go Thursday. Extortion, Lack of Interest, Noisear, and Shitstorm are all bands I want to see (even though I've already seen Shitstorm). Then again, there's some great shit on all the days.
Destroyer 666 has been forced to cancel their upcoming US tour dates, including their appearance at MDF.
NUNSLAUGHTER will be filling the vacant space on Saturday caused by the cancellation.
Also, please note that Cripple Bastards has to play on Friday instead of Sunday because someone in the band has to be back it Italy earlier than originally expected.
March 10, 2011
Well, we hope this is the last cancellation that we have to deal with. REGURGITATE will no longer be playing MDF IX because the drummer has a wrist problem that will keep him from performing, and apparently they don't really feel like playing live shows anymore.
BASTARD NOISE will now be playing on Sunday to fill the vacant space caused by the cancellation.
An updated list of bands for each day of the festival can be found here.
THURSDAY TICKET AVAILABILITY:
We're now down to less than 200 tickets remaining for the Thursday show. Tickets for this day can be obtained with the purchase of either a 4-day pass or Thursday only ticket.
March 8, 2011
Due to circumstances beyond the control of the band, GOATSNAKE has cancelled their appearance at MDF IX.
As a result of the cancellation, GHOST (Sweden) will be making their US debut at MDF IX, but please note that they will be playing on SUNDAY, and not on Friday.
i just found out I have a friend living in Baltimore and MAY be able to stay there for free...
but I'm already kinda obligated to stay in the Mad Russians room. He rented the exact same room we had last year the day we checked out after last years MDF.
Scott, are you willing to go down on Friday after noon and only attend Saturday and Sunday? If so, I'll ride down with you...I cant get friday off but I do have Monday off for the drive home. I can log hours behind the wheel and gas $$ etc
DEATH BREATH has issued the following statement regarding their cancellation:
"Production difficulties with the complexity of the band being spread all over the world made an error in the schedule, so we simply had to cancel as we felt we couldnīt achieve a good performance. To do a one off show is actually more difficult than we thought. We are very sorry for this and wanna say thanks for understanding to the fans and the promoter."
Also, DEVOURMENT has cancelled, as a member in the band must attend to some family matters.
As a result of these cancellations, IN SOLITUDE (Sweden) will be making their first US appearance, and SKINLESS will be playing their last ever show, and it will be with the original line up. Please note that IN SOLITUDE will be playing on Saturday, and SKINLESS will be playing on Sunday.
bumping the original thread....we're back in business.
Sonar will be re-opening before MDF, and technically they already have. These last couple of days have been incredibly confusing and stressful, but we are currently back to the regularly scheduled program. And don't worry, beyond plan B is a plan C, because that's how we roll. See you in a couple of weeks.
