The Blackened Music Series Presents
AGALLOCH (First Ever NYC Performance)
with Worm Ouroboros
March 22, 2011 at Le Poisson Rouge, NYC
For 14 years the Pacific Northwest group Agalloch has carved out a dark and diverse sound consisting of black metal, folk, progressive rock, and ambient sound. Their dynamic approach to metal began with the demo From Which of this Oak from 1997 and continues through 2010's Marrow of the Spirit, cited as the #1 Album of the Year from Decibel Magazine and Stereogum's Haunting The Chapel, and the year's top metal release by NPR.
Agalloch rarely tours and this show will mark their first ever appearance in New York City.

a little birdie told me they may be playing in new england the following day... |
|
^ Details plz, anything to escape the Fung Wah. |
|
The booker contacted a venue I'm affiliated with exploring options for a 3/23 date, I don't think we can handle the tour, but I would imagine they are in contact with other venues, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are exploring getting to Boston the 24th or 25th, If any hard evidence comes my way I'll keep people posted. |
|
The birdie now says middle east 3/23 |
|
This birdie...he is saying some good things. |
|
I'd love to see these guys, but yeah, Middle East would just be a hell of a lot easier. |
|
Middle east confirmed yet? |
|
Tuesday is Saturday for me, so if there's no Boston date I'm definitely going to the NYC date. |

Same here bro. Figured I could stand back to back agallochs. |

We are looking forward to tomorrow night's sold out Agalloch show and are happy you will be there.
The times are as follows:
7pm doors
8pm Ariel Ruin
9pm Daniel Menche
10pm Worm Ouroboros
11pm Agalloch
As you can see we added the brilliant Portland-based guitar/noise artist Daniel Menche to the bill.
We are happy to report that WNYC will be recording the show for streaming on their site. I'll let you know when it's up so you can re-live the show, and celebrate the first black metal concert to be officially backed by NPR.
Thanks for your support,
Adam Shore

that's a "meh" setlist IMHO. some good songs, some good songs missing. |
|

I can get into his stuff, but I'm just saying that most people won't dig it. |

my thoughts exactly. |
|
that setlist looks great. closing with in the shadow of our pale companion is a win. |
|
hessian acoustic dude wasn't taken seriously
noise guy was not that great.
worm ourobouruorus is on now and is exceeding my expectations. nice atmospheric female fronted stuff, definitely a great prelude to agalloch. |
|
they played great considering the sound, which was pretty muddy. I think they had a few fuckups due to not being able to hear each other. I have faith that things will be different at the mid east since it's a place that caters to heavy music instead of dance. The crowd received them well and it was a sold out show. |
|
home. up for work in a couple hours, then round 2. the story is cool. |
|
I wish I didn't know french cause then maybe the name of this club wouldn't seem corny. |
