What were your first concert experiences?
mine was the WBCN River Rave in like '99; i saw Blink 182, The Living End, a snipet of Silverchair, Sugar Ray, Live, the Red Hot Chili Peppers....probably more but i don't remember them. i wasn't really into any of those bands, i was beginning my quest for death metal at this point, but a friend invited me so i said what the hell.
the second was Oleander, Our Lady Peace, and Creed; again i didn't care much for the bands; Creed were still remotely heavy as their 2nd album wasn't out yet.
my first Metal show was....oh god, how embarrassing.....Six Feet Under, in support of the "true carnage album". Napalm Death, and Dimmu Borgir were supposed to play, but this was just after the September 11th incident, so maybe they weren't too keen on flying over here, i don't know. But plenty of gay metalcore bands filled in, Lamb of God, God Forbid, Darkest Hour, Candiria, Unearth....looking back i don't know why i went to that. |

Alert / Corporal Punishment / Biohazard was the first
most recent was Opeth / Nevermore @ the Palladium last night |
repost policE!
heh
though you probably weren't around when the first concert experiences thread was around...maybe last year? |
my first concert when i was 15 was Pantera/White Zombie/Deftones. i've seen too many to list, but the most memorable have been Mayhem/Exhumed, Satyricon/Immortal, Cannibal Corpse/Dimmu Borgir/Lamb of God, Meshuggah/Opeth |
they might be giants in 92 or 93 @ the hatch shell.
I think luna opened up for them. |
NKOTB @ Foxboro Stadium 1991 for my sister's 3rd birthday. I was 5.
I wasn't having none o dat, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were my favorite band at the time. |
Misfits back in like 98 or 99. Forget when, but it was awesome.
Most memorable:
Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Macabre, Kataklysm
NEHMF: King Diamond, Nile, Behemoth, Black Dahlia Murder, Hypocrisy
Watchmaker, Abhorred, Horn of Valere, Hirudinea |
Primus at the Orpheum, '96 I think. |
First show ever was Living Sacrifice in '95 (first show since I was old enough to drive). That's also probably my most memorable, though a few more that spring to mind are Saviour Machine in 2001, Living Sacrifice in 2003 (final show), and this year's shows from Dead Can Dance, Turisas, and Circle. |
tough to remember. I think Van Hagar/BTO. But the first REAL metal show? Kreator and Voivod at TT'S |

Blatant Disregard/Hearing Impaired/Formicide/Atomicaust at Dracut HS is the first local show I remember, I was only 13. Then after that I went to about 200-300 shows over the next 3-5 years: Death Angel, Carcass, Pestilence, Death, Coroner, Kreator, Forbidden, Liege Lord, Fates Warning, King Diamond, Savatage, Napalm Death, Entombed, Candlemass, Leeway, Killing Time, Youth of Today, Helloween, Anthrax, Nocturnus, Morbid Angel, ad infinity, far too many to list here but I got to see so many great bands in the Golden Age, one of the reasons being that I almost never got checked for ID at any 18+ shows, and for that I am thankful. One of the coolest bills I saw was Voivod/Soundgarden/Faith No More, and I think even Voivod was headlining! Go figure.
My favorite live shows after all these years: Raven, Impaled Nazarene and Primal Fear. |

Ha! I remember that show, before I was even in Alert.

what year was that? that was a loooooooooooooong time ago
Had to have been 1992-93, after the primary Alert members graduated H.S. but before I joined in '93. |
yeah, that's about right, would have made me about 13ish |
